What is Aikyashree Scholarship and for whom?
The Aikyashree Scholarship was first introduced under the ‘West Bengal Minorities Development and Finance Corporation’ from the financial year 2019-20. Today, education from primary school to college has become increasingly expensive and the resulting decline in higher education enrollment is one of the reasons.
Therefore, this scholarship has been arranged by the West Bengal government keeping in mind that the students from financially poor families of the minority community do not fall behind in the struggle for education.
Financial assistance is provided to the students from class 1 to PhD level under Aikyashree Scholarship, that is to say that this scholarship is helpful for the entire educational life of the students.
But note that only minority community students can apply for this Aikyashree Scholarship ie this scholarship is for Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi and Jain students.
Aikyashree Scholarship 2023 Last Date:
- Last date for correction of defective application forms related to Aikyashree Scholarship 2022-23 has been extended till 31.01.2024.
- The last date for submission of applications for Pre-Matric, Post-Matric, TSP, MCM, SVMCM Scholarships for the year 2023-24 has been extended to 15.01.2024.
- Applicants for pre-matric scheme whose status is showing as ‘Invalid Bank Account’ have been asked to reapply for the year 2023-24.

Aikyashree Scholarship 2023-24:
Five types of scholarships are offered under the Aikyashree scheme namely, Pre-Matric Scholarship, Post-Matric Scholarship, Merit-cum-Men’s Scholarship, Under Talent Support Program and Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Men’s Scholarship for Minorities. They are discussed below:
Pre-Matric Scholarship
Under this scholarship, scholarships are given for studies from class I to class X.
Post-Matric Scholarship:
Scholarships are awarded to students in the field of study from class XI to Ph.D under this scholarship.
Eligibility for Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship:
- Applicant must be resident of West Bengal.
- Annual family income can be upto Rs 2 lakh.
- Applicant should be studying in a school/institution recognized by Education Board/Council/State/Central Government.
- Must have secured at least 50% marks or equivalent grade in previous final examination.
- Students studying in institutions outside West Bengal will not be eligible for pre-matric or post-matric scholarships.
Merit-cum-Mens Scholarship:
This scholarship is located in West Bengal and is awarded to students pursuing professional or technical courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level in any board or university affiliated institution under the Government of West Bengal.
Eligibility for Merit-cum-Mens Scholarship:
- Applicant must be resident of West Bengal.
- Students must be enrolled in a technical or professional course.
- At least 50% marks should be obtained in the final examination (higher secondary or graduation).
- Annual family income can be upto Rs 2.5 lakh.
- Students who are residents of West Bengal but studying in listed institutions notified by the ‘West Bengal Minority Development and Finance Corporation’ located outside West Bengal are also eligible to apply.
Under Talent Support Program:
This scholarship is open to those who have not qualified for ‘Post-Matric Scholarship’ i.e. have passed their last final examination with less than 50% marks and are enrolled in Class XI or continuing their studies up to Ph.D. (Except Vocational and Technical Courses).
Under Talent Support Program Eligibility:
- Annual family income can be upto Rs 2 lakh.
- Students must have less than 50% marks in the final exam to pass.
Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Men’s Scholarship for Minorities:
Scholarships are awarded to meritorious minority students from class XI to postgraduate level and regular courses in Diploma in Polytechnic, Diploma in Pharmacy, BEd, DLED etc. under this scholarship.
In this case the online application process is done every year in coordination with West Bengal Higher Education Department (WBHED). The benefit amount in this scholarship is up to a maximum of ₹60,000/-.
Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Men’s Scholarship for Minorities Eligibility:
- Applicant must be a resident of West Bengal and must be pursuing education from a recognized institution located in West Bengal.
- The student must have passed out from a BBSE/WBCHSE/WBBME/CBSE/ISC recognized institution or University located in West Bengal in the current year.
- Annual family income must be between Rs.2.5 lakh (Certificate issued by any state/central government official).
- This scholarship requires a minimum of 60% marks in the final examination for Higher Secondary to Graduate level, 53% for Post Graduate level and 55% marks for Honors subject at Graduate level and 55% for Graduate level in case of Engineering students.

- Students who are not staying in the hostels of the respective institutes but are staying as paying guests or on rent, will also be included in hostelers.

Aikyashree Scholarship Form:
Follow the below procedure for Aikyashree Scholarship Form:
- You need to visit the official portal of Scholarships for Minorities wbmdfcscholarship.in.
- On home page you will see ‘STUDENT’S AREA’ link in place of banner, click on it.
- For application you need to register first, so click on ‘Fresh Registration’ 2023-2024′ link.
- Mention the district where your educational institution is located.
- Then there are 4 steps, through which you have to complete the registration and login. The steps are ‘STUDENT INFORMATION’, ‘SCHEME ELIGIBILITY’, ‘REGISTRATION SUCCESSFULL’ and ‘STUDENT’S LOGIN’.
- Student name, parents name, mobile number, bank account number, bank IFS code etc. should be filled and submitted in the ‘STUDENT INFORMATION’ step.
- Then comes the ‘SCHEME ELIGIBILITY’ step where the educational institution is located in which block or municipality, current educational institution name, class or course name, last passed exam name, board name, exam year, exam percentage, annual family income etc. and a password. Set and submit.
- Once submitted, your registration will be completed and you will see a registration ID, which must be taken care of.
- Then click on ‘LOGIN’ and login with your registration ID and password.
- After login you will reach the student dashboard, there again you have to provide some information like permanent address, student aadhaar number etc. and in the last step click on ‘Verify & Lock Application’ your application will be completed and after that the application form cannot be modified.
- You can print the application form through ‘Print Application’ and submit it to your educational institution if necessary.
Aikyashree Status Check:
You can check Aikyashree application status in the following ways:
- You have to visit the official portal wbmdfcscholarship.in to check the application status.
- Click on ‘Track Your Application’ from the top menu.
- Then you have to select the district of your educational institution.
- After you reach the track application page you need to mention the registration year, district name, date of birth, application id or mobile number by which you want to search and fill captcha and click submit.
- Then you will see all the application status. Here the more important ones such as whether the educational institution and state have verified, whether the bank validation has been approved and whether the disbursement is showing success or not, if it shows pending, then you have to wait for some time.
Aikyashree Scholarship Renewal:
You can renew the Aikyashree Scholarship by following the following steps:
- You need to visit the official portal wbmdfcscholarship.in.
- You will see the ‘STUDENT’S AREA’ link on the home page banner, click on it.
- Then reach the ‘Student Panel’ where you have to click on the ‘Renew Your Application’ link.
- After coming to ‘STUDENT’S RENEWAL LOGIN’ page you have to login by filling ‘Application ID’, date of birth and captcha. OTP verification will be done on the registered mobile number for login.
- After login you have to click on ‘Renew Application’ button.
- In case of renewal, no old information can be changed, only some new information has to be provided like the percentage of marks obtained in annual or semester examination along with uploading the marksheet and bank passbook front page. Then click on ‘Submit and Next’.
- After that you will see the preview of your renewal application and below you have to tick some important check boxes like whether you have applied for any other scholarship, whether your bank account details are correct etc. Click on ‘Submit and Lock Renewa Application’ and your Aikyashree Scholarship Renewal will be completed.
