What is the Oasis Scholarship?

Under Oasis Scholarship , assistance is provided to SC, ST and OBC students from economically weaker families in the state. This is not a merit based scholarship, so students from certain income families can apply for this scholarship from class 9 onwards and the scholarship is also available for studying medical, engineering, law, polytechnic, nursing, hotel management etc. at postgraduate level.

Oasis Scholarship Recipients & Eligibility

In order to apply for the Oasis Scholarship, the student must be a permanent resident of West Bengal and also fulfill the following qualifications:

In case of pre-matric scholarship for SC students

  • Applicant must be a student of 9th and 10th standard
  • Must belong to Scheduled Caste (SC) category

In respect of pre-matric scholarship for ST students

What does it take to do the Oasis Scholarship?

Oasis Scholarship requires photocopies of the following documents along with the application form (however this list may vary depending on the verification procedure of the educational institution).

Oasis Scholarship Application

Oasis Scholarship application should be done by filling the form online and after downloading and signing it should be submitted along with all the documents to the respective educational institution or the office of BDO or DWO.

Follow the following steps to apply online:

  • You have to go to oasis.gov.in official portal of oasis scholarship.
  • Click on ‘Student’s Registration’ from ‘Students Corner’ in the banner section of the home page.
  • Then you have to select the district in which you are studying in the educational institution.
  • After that an important popup message will appear telling what to do, given below.

  • Then first verify the cast certificate and then mention name, gender, date of birth, aadhaar number. Click on the checkbox to specify the Aadhaar linked with your bank account and fill the captcha and click on ‘Proceed’.
  • The next page is ‘Primary Details of Student’ where parent’s name, cast name, course type have to be given. Next, in place of ‘Authority & Contact Details’, the annual income of the family, Aadhaar number, block or municipality, name of the educational institution, mobile number etc. should be given.
  • Below in the ‘Student Class Details’ you have to mention the year of the last exam, after setting a password and submit your registration will be completed. You have to click on ‘Download Acknowledgment Slip’ to download the slip which will need to be renewed next time.
  • After registration, log in and provide the rest of the information such as ‘Present Address Details’, ‘Permanent Address Details’. In ‘Supporter’s Details’ you have to mention your family guardian’s name, occupation, educational qualification etc.
  • In ‘Educational Details’ you have to give and submit information about current and previous educational institutions, courses, exams etc.
  • Then in place of ‘Bank Information’ you have to enter ‘IFSC’, account number etc. and click on ‘Save & Proceed’ below.
  • You have to click on ‘Verify & Lock Application’, only then OTP verification will be done on the registered mobile number and after verification click on ‘Download Application Form’ and download the application.
