The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM Kisan) is a scheme run by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare through which every farmer family owning cultivable land receives financial assistance from the Government of India.
In this scheme, a total of Rs 6,000 is directly transferred to the bank account of the beneficiaries in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each year. So far crores of farmers have been benefited by this Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojana.
When will PM Kisan’s money come in?
The PM Kisan Yojana was launched on 1st December 2018. The 15th tranche of the scheme was released on 15th November 2023 where the government has provided a total of Rs 18,000 crore and benefited more than 8 crore farmers.
Currently, there is no official date for the 16th installment but it is expected to hit farmers’ accounts between February and March.
Objectives of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi
India is an agricultural country and the role of proper infrastructure is crucial for the development and productivity of this agriculture. The scheme provides financial support to farmers so that farmers can take appropriate measures to maintain improved crop quality and get a fair price for produce especially after harvest.
Moreover, in case of loss of crops due to natural calamities or other reasons, the farmers had to bear the cost and otherwise the rate of farmer suicides in an agriculturally dominant country like India bore witness to extreme ruthlessness. One of the most successful aspects of this scheme is the reduction in the rate of farmer suicides and maintaining a minimum income standard for farmers through this scheme.

The steps for online application are mentioned below:-
- First you need to go to PM-Kisan portal.
- Scroll down and click on ‘New Farmer Registration’ from ‘Farmer’s Corner’.
- Once clicked, the first page of the ‘New Farmer Registration Form’ will open where you will first be asked whether you are a rural or urban or municipal farmer along with your Aadhaar card number and a mobile number which will subsequently be the New Farmer’s registration mobile number.
- Then click on ‘State’ below and select your state.
- Then if you type the following ‘Captcha’ and click on ‘Get OTP’, an OTP will be sent to the mobile number you have given, which you have to enter in ‘Enter OTP’ and type the new captcha and click on ‘Submit’.
- After submission another OTP will be sent to your mobile. This OTP is used to verify your Aadhaar number. Enter the OTP and click on ‘Verify Aadhaar OTP’.
- Now you will enter the main page of the registration form where you will find some parts of your form pre-filled as the information is already collected from your Aadhaar.
- You can easily fill in the name of your ‘District’ or Zilla, ‘Sub-District’ or Upazila, ‘Block’ and Village.
- Below ‘Farmer Personal Details’ you have to select ‘Category’ either ‘General’, ‘ST’ or ‘SC’.
- Then below you have to mention your land size from ‘Farmer Type’ which is bigger than ‘1 or 2 hectares’.
- Your ‘Aadhaar Number’, ‘Mobile Number’, ‘Address’, ‘Pin Code’ will have to be filled. So next you need to enter your ‘Father/Mother/Husband’ name.
- The next field that has been added in the form is ‘Land Registration ID’ which was not there in the previous form, so many people find it inconvenient to fill the new form.
Now let’s see how you can get Land Registration ID:-
Land Registration ID = District Code + Block Code + Mauza Code + Khatian Number
Now the question is where do you get these codes from? To get these codes, you need to visit the government land website ‘Bholekh’.
If you go to Google and type ‘BHULEKH’ and enter the name of your state, you will see the official BHULEKH website of that state.
Let’s say if you want to know information about land in West Bengal, if you type ‘BHULEKH West Bengal’ in Google and then click on search, you will see the website ‘banglarbhumi.gov.in‘.
To know the code, you click on the menu at the top right end of the website ‘Mouza Information’.
Then a popup message will open where you will see the codes along with the district name. Suppose if your district is ‘Howrah’ then you know its code is ’05’.
Now you can see the code with the block name by clicking on the district. Suppose if your block is ‘Bali’ then its code is ’03’.
Just like before, if you click on the block, you will know the name and code of the mouza. Suppose if it is Lilua then the code will be ‘012’.
Now let’s assume your Khatian number is ‘123’ then it will be Land Registration ID
Land Registration ID = 05 + 03 + 012 + 123
Then your Land Registration ID = 0503012123
- After filling Land Registration ID you have to give ‘Ration Card Number’.
- Then you will be asked whether you will do ‘PM Kisan Mandhan Yojana’ or not. It is a pension scheme. If the farmer is above 60 years of age, the government gives them the opportunity to do this pension scheme, but some money will be deducted from your account for that.
- The next part of the form is very important. Here you have to give all the details about your land. First of all, whether the ownership of the land is ‘single’ or ‘joint’ should be mentioned.
- After clicking on the ‘Add’ button, the ‘Add Land Details’ section will open below.
- Here first you need to put Khatian number and next to it Dag or Khasra number i.e. plot number.
- In the case of the next ‘Area (Hectares)’ it should be remembered that all the dimensions of the land should be measured in Hectares. Usually the land size in Parcha is in Acres so in that case you can convert the sizes to Hectares with Google Converter.
- Then ‘Land Transfer Status’ i.e. you have to mention the time of land transfer whether it is before or after 1st February 2019.
- If you have got your land from a Patta or RFA i.e. ‘Recorded Forest Area’ then click on ‘Yes’ otherwise click on ‘No’.
- Then you have to inform how the land is transferred to your name through ‘Land Transfer Details’.
- “Land Debt Vesting” i.e. the time of transfer of your land must be mentioned which you must get in the Land Deed or Land Purchase.
- Once all the above information is collected and click on the ‘Add’ button, then the information will be updated in the portal and will be shown to you in the upper part. You can also rematch from there.
- If you have more than one land, you can again fill the information from ‘Add Land Detail’ below.
- At the bottom of the form, in the ‘Upload Supporting Documents’ section, 2 documents should be uploaded in PDF format. One is Land and the other is Aadhaar. You can easily scan your documents and make them in PDF format.
- Then click on the ‘Save’ button and your New Farmer registration process will be completed.
