The Lakshmir Bhandar Project is a flagship programme, i.e. the most important and large-scale initiative launched by the Government of West Bengal in 2021. The main objective of this scheme is to empower women and make them financially independent by providing government grants. The latest updates regarding Lakshmir Bhandar Project have come in the current month of November 2023, which are mentioned below-
- Not only from government camp in Duar, but from now on, applications for Lakshmir Bhandar scheme can be made at BDO office in rural areas, SDO office in urban areas and Citizen Municipal office in Kolkata.
- Now it is possible to apply for this scheme throughout the year and not for any specific period.
- Earlier, the government used to send money to all the beneficiaries at once after verifying the camp application form at the door. From now on, as soon as the application form is submitted, the money will be verified and sent to the Aadhaar linked bank account.
- After the Lakshmir Bhandar beneficiary reaches the age of 60 years, the Lakshmir Bhandar grant will automatically stop and the old age allowance will start, in which case each beneficiary will get ₹1000/-.
- For Lakshmir Bhandar earlier it was mandatory for applicants to have a health partner card, but now applicants will get the benefits of this scheme without this card.
- Lakshmir Bhandar project application will also be arranged through online in future.

- The bank account should be a single account of the female applicant only.
