Beneficiaries will get free electricity up to 300 units per month under this scheme. The central government has earmarked a total budget of ₹75,021 crore for this project.
Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana Objectives
The use of electricity is in a word essential in our present daily life. From lights, fans, mobiles or laptops, we all need electricity to use almost every useful thing and therefore the cost of this electricity is constantly increasing.
The main objective of Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana is to provide adequate electricity supply through installation of solar panels and at the same time reduce the cost of electricity, which will indirectly help in increasing people’s income.
Besides, the use of solar panels will make people no longer have to rely on electricity companies and will be able to use 300 units of electricity per month for free, thus increasing people’s self-reliance in electricity supply. If more than 300 units of electricity are produced, the government will buy that electricity, that is, through this scheme, the government will also save a little in terms of electricity supply to the common people. Moreover, due to the production of electricity through solar panels, it is completely environment friendly, so keeping in mind the global warming, this solar panel initiative is particularly significant.
